- Sex scenes getting formulaic.
Tired of the poor editing.
Redundant decade too.
Try harder please go edit your books better. - Wow!! This book was Off. The. Charts. Everything. Off the charts HOT, off the charts dangerous, off the charts sexy, and off the charts addictive. It’s got serious steam...(like, you really will need a fan and some ice water...it’s smokin’ hot), an alpha male that’ll make you forget your morals, and a strong heroine that you will envy. Balto and Cassini are electric and so combustible, you can practically feel the heat coming off the pages. This is one you seriously cannot miss.
The Skull King starts with a bang (literally) and doesn’t let up in intensity until the unbelievably amazing cliffhanger on the last page. I devoured this one, as I couldn’t wait to see what would happen. I won’t spoil any of it because this is a book you must read. If you’re looking for a book that’ll grab your attention from the first page, this is the book for you. Ms. Sky delivers her signature storytelling in perfect ways yet again. This is why she is one of my favorite authors...I’ve yet to be disappointed by a single book and this one is no exception.
You cannot miss this story, these characters, this world. Be ready to be lost in an underground world that’ll pull you in not let you go. - Anyone who has read any of Ms Sky's Barsetti's series and their interconnected series all set in Italy have heard of the Skull Kings. This story introduces us to the current leader of the 💀 Kings and the woman he becomes infatuated with. He learns she's the unwilling wife of an enemy who has something he wants, they have past unfinished business. At the end of this first book in the trilogy he essentially takes her as collateral. The real question becomes how will he treat her now, prior to the ending she was someone he met in a bar and they kept meeting due to mutual attraction. Now things are different, I can't wait for the second book in this trilogy! The writing is detailed and the reader immediately feels drawn in to the story. I'm so invested in these interwoven series I'll really miss this world 🌎 when the author finally leaves it. I only have one small complaint, after as many series this author has written there are still several grammatical errors found in each book. I don't claim that errors don't occur, but they seem to be the same type in each book.
- I started the Buttons and Lace Series and I fell in love with the series. Then, I found Lingerie Series and I got addicted. I thought there was the final ending at the end of the Lingerie Series. What more could Penelope Sky conjure up with these characters?? I was so so mistaken! The Skull Kings are run by Balto. He is the ultimate powerful sexy gorgeous dominant man. Balto is like the mafia king of Italy. He has every police and government official on his payroll. I personally think John Gotti is just a small time business man compared to Balto. Cassini, I understand your reasons for marrying the monster. However, Balto is not going to hurt you like your husband has. The sexual chemistry between Balto and Cassini is so intense and powerful. This is not your average romance book. The Skull King will leave you begging for more!
- This was my first book by this author! By the blurb I was hooked never by a blurb was I ever that hooked and anticipated by a book but this blurb and book captivated me! Once I opened this book it didnt disappoint I was hooked I just couldnt stop reading! I loved Balto and Cassini how strong and sexy their chemistry is it was just off the charts amazing and how dangerous it was but also Balto was dangerous and powerful! I just loved how this book was and I needed this book in my life and a changed and I need more of this author and will check out more of her novels I cant wait until the other two!!
- Almost makes me want , but I am a book holding page turning kind of girl. I LOVED this. Addressing the editing... I have to say, the errors here are few and as errors go, they are atypical errors. Usually homonyms are the problem, or lopped off sentences. And, I can tell you, I know which authors use which inaccurate homonyms over and over. That's the author, nobody else would do it so consistently. Lopped off and not continuous sentences do seem to be the editor, someone not familiar enough with story to edit. They should care like we do. It feels like the editor does not love the story like we do. If in fact editor reads the story for meaning, at all.
- If you're a fan of Penelope Sky & have read her Buttons & Lace Series & the Lingerie Series you know about the Skull Kings. This book introduces us to Balto- the new leader of the Skull Kings. His arch enemy is Lucian & by a chance meeting in a bar Balto meets Lucia's wife Cassini. She was forced into a marriage with Lucian in order to save someone she loved. The author always has strong Alpha males & their even stronger women in her Series & she doesn't disappoint her fans here. This is the first book of a Trilogy so we have a lot more of Balto, Lucian & Cassini to look forward to!
- I am so excited for this series. Balto's book didn't disappoint. Cassini and Balto were off the charts. Cassini and Balto end up having extra steamy affair, Cassini is married. Little did Balto know who. This ending killed be. I have a feeing I'm going to want to slap Balto a few times in the face during the next book. Great start. I love this author and these books.

THEY ARE THE BEST FOR A FIRST READ!
Enid’s early works include the ‘Secret Seven Society’ books featuring Peter (the society's leader), Janet (Peter's sister), Jack, Barbara, George, Pam and Colin. They were the catalyst which encouraged me to start reading more than 50 years ago. Thank you, Enid.
The BBC, many public libraries, local authorities and alleged educational experts have been completely wrong about the worth of the Blyton works. I can remember having substantial difficulty obtaining the original versions of the books. Quite a few shops would not stock them then but they were wonderful stories for teenagers! The tales are great to read for their simplicity and straightforwardness.
When one did find copies of the book they were quite expensive all those years ago but great to own. I loved the physical appearance of the books as well which I treasured as a youngster with the way in which the books were produced then making them somehow much easier to read.
It’s a delight to read these stories of adventure again in middle age although recent editing has diminished some of the memories I have of the original editions and words used then (but I am now getting old).
Never mind… these books remain one of my best friends for life they began my own reading adventure so do read these special adventures of the Secret Seven Society for yourselves.
